The latest Star Wars game earned an 8/10 in our Star Wars Jedi: Survivor review. Given the fact the console version has generally avoided price cuts-the previous low was $10 off-it's certainly possible that these deals will sell out (especially at Amazon). Instead, it’s merely just a dummy disc that proves you purchased the game so that you can download it digitally.Jedi: Survivor has received few discounts since launch, so this is a great opportunity to purchase the sequel at a great price. In this case, it appears the physical discs for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor serve more as DRM key with no actual game data on the disc itself. And they aren’t usually required to play the actual game. There are also some people with data caps or just slow internet in general that could prevent them from downloading the required files.Īlthough many modern games do usually require day-one downloads, these are typically patches to address bugs that may have been caught after a game had already gone gold. This may have been the easier route for the publisher but it presents its own set of obstacles for gamers who may not have immediate access to the internet. While Respawn could have included multiple discs to avoid this, it looks like EA instead chose to rely on a download. This isn’t a huge surprise as the maximum capacity for a Blu-ray on PS5 is around 100GB and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is reportedly checking in at about 147GB on PS5. This means that even if you purchase a physical copy of the game on PS5 or Xbox Series X|S, you’ll have to set aside some time to download the required files. However, it seems even the physical copies of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will require a download before you jump into the galaxy far, far away.Ĭopies of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor have started to reach retailers and a leaked image of the physical game case reveals that a download is “required” in order to play. These days, gamers have the option to purchase games digitally and download them, or purchase a physical copy of the game. The highly anticipated sequel will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is set to release this week on April 28.
